An Open Letter to the NYT Editorial Board

Dear Purveyors of Right-wing Propaganda,

Yes, that is now how I must address you.  I realize that the old gray lady has been part of the neo-Conservative ascendency for quite some time but recent staff hiring and extremely biased "news" articles and far right blatant blatherings in your editorial pages without liberal (let alone progressive) balance have led me to cancel my subscription.

There once was a time when I enjoyed some of the sparing in your paper's editorials.  Some important investigative journalism was once done in your pages.  There seemed to be some detailed thought or significant ideas in your articles and editorial pages but now it seems that the efforts have become part of a calculated effort to establish as much credibility for the remaining neo-cons and their agenda as possible.  And I simply cannot support such an effort.

So, gentlemen and ladies, I have canceled my subscription effective immediately.  Do not worry about me.  I still have my Atlantic Monthly, New Yorker, The Nation, Esquire, In These Times, and several regional and local newspapers and magazines to keep me company.

And, yes, I can always read the Sunday literary sections at my library without giving support to the right-wing junta that have taken over the NYT.  And there is always free access to much of what I would read online.  Should you change your minds about this right-wing crusade, I will be waiting.

Good luck to you on your jihad, may you fail miserably.
